In the early 1970”s, Harold Scott, along with a few others, sat in a room and started the Tri-State Drilling Contractor’s Association. In the early days of the association, the following happened:
- Monthly meetings
- Many meetings with the department of transportation to get them to allow Hollow Stem Auger use in lieu of driving casing and wash sampling
- Stopping a local effort to require drilling contractors to submit all their drilling logs for all projects to the State
- Getting the department of Transportation to allow bid bonds instead of cash bonds
- Along with CME, getting the department to accept safety hammers
- Meetings with the DCDMA and the merger of the two groups for the good of the industry
- The start of annual Trade shows and conventions
